T minus 24

I am getting ever closer. I can sense myself preparing for it on a subconscious level whereas everything that happens within these walls makes me reverberate it back with an added level of extreme annoyance. T minus 24 and counting.

A $250 billion per year loss would be almost $800 for every man, woman, and child in America. And 750,000 jobs – that’s twice the number of those employed in the entire motion picture industry in 2010.

The good news is that the numbers are wrong. In 2010, the Government Accountability Office released a report noting that these figures “cannot be substantiated or traced back to an underlying data source or methodology,” which is polite government-speak for “these figures were made up out of thin air.”

The Freakonomics guys call bull**** on the MPAA’s piracy numbers. (via jimray)

The MPAA is wack as hell. Everyone should see THIS FILM IS NOT YET RATED if you want to understand a little more about the inner workings of this organization. FYI - It’s head is a SENATOR and this organization’s original, primary goal was to only hand out ratings for films. Obviously you need a Senator for this.

In Case You Missed It of the Day: During the 90th birthday bash NBC threw for Betty White last night, President Obama (whose wife was also born January 17th) delivered an official birthday message to the golden girl, poking fun the infamous birth certificate conspiracy.

Transcript below:

Dear Betty,

You look so fantastic and full of energy. I can’t believe you’re 90 years old. In fact, I don’t believe it. That’s why I’m writing to ask if you will be willing to produce a copy of your long form birth certificate. Thanks, and Happy Birthday, no matter how old you are.

[gotcha.]

God dammit I love our President.

I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover its ultimate secret. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know - unless it be to share our laughter.
We searchers are ambitious only for life itself, for everything beautiful it can provide. Most of all we love and want to be loved. We want to live in a relationship that will not impede our wandering, nor prevent our search, nor lock us in prison walls; that will take us for what little we have to give. We do not want to prove ourselves to another or compete for love.
